This is a very confusing book. If you want stories about the Mob, you don't want this. It is a journalist's articles for a Philadelphia newspaper. From what I have read so far, it is very hard to keep up with the mobsters, so you lose track. Cannot and will not read anymore.Product details

I am a big fan of George Anasasia's other books about the Philadelphia Mob! That being said I was VERY disappointed in "Mobfiles Mobsters, Molls, and Murder". It seemed like a synapse of his previous works. I do realize that there is not much to report on the Philadelphia Mob over the past 10+ years but I would not recommend this book to anyone who has read Mr. Anastsia's other books.
More than a history. Discusses the moral dilemma for society of granting mobster informants known or suspected of multiple murders reduced sentences and /or protection in return for testimony. Hard to put down. Fascinating in its detail.
The book's information is a bit dated, not as current as I was expecting. It's a bunch of news articles from the Phila. Newspapers.
The same stories that are written in many other books so if you have read lots of mob books don't bother buying this one.
Reads like old newspaper clippings, and not in chronological order, or in any discernible order. But interesting nevertheless.
I enjoy reading about any all things related to Philly but was somewhat dissappointed by the repetitive information in this book which is essentially a collection of previously printed newspaper exposes.
All in all I still enjoyed but I somewhat skeptical of getting George's other works.
